Instead of a bare statistic, this module compares subgroups on every indicator in the registry and surfaces gaps wide enough to matter — to policymakers, researchers, journalists, civil society, and development partners alike. The logic is fixed, transparent rules over the weighted data — not generative text — so every sentence below can be traced back to an exact calculation.
How this works
For every indicator with a defined "favourable" response set, the engine computes the weighted favourable percentage within each demographic split (gender, urban/rural, age band, education level, lived-poverty band) and flags any pair of subgroups whose gap exceeds the threshold selected above. This mirrors the logic Afrobarometer analysts already use in dispatches and scorecards — the platform simply runs it exhaustively and instantly across the whole registry instead of one indicator at a time.

All percentages shown are computed on valid, substantive responses only. Single-country views use withinwt_hh
(Afrobarometer's within-country weight, correcting for individual selection probability, region, urban/rural
distribution, and household/enumeration-area size). Cross-country and continental figures use
Combinwt_new_hh, Afrobarometer's official multi-country weighting factor, which gives each of the 39
countries equal weight in the continental average regardless of population size — matching Afrobarometer's own
published cross-country reporting convention.
"Don't know", "Refused", and "Not applicable" responses are excluded from percentage bases and are never silently
recoded as a substantive answer.
